Participation in the parade by members of the Indian-American community was organized by Dr Manorama Sharma Gupta, Founder and Chairperson of Global Peace Foundation, a non- profit organization. This was for the first time that Indian-Americans participated in the parade.
Aroud 92 associations participated with colorful floats and marching bands . Donned in colorful attire, members of the Indian-American community marched to the beat of Indian music as the crowd cheered them on.. The parade announcer in appreciation said “The Indian-American community of Southern Califonia is glad to participate in the Tet Parade and share the joy of the New Year with the Vietnamese community.’’ The announcer lauded Dr Gupta and the Global Peace Foundation for their help to needy children and families. The parade organizing committee expressed appreciation and thanked the Indian-American community for their participation.
