7 Free Surgeries Performed

opened their doors  at 6 am to welcome four patients who had been  waiting for surgeries for different types of hernia, two  for colonoscopies and one for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for years. Dr. Naphtali Gomez performed surgery for two umbilical hernia patients and was joined by Dr. Haider Mukadam who volunteered for the first time. Dr. Bharat Patel operated on two patients with inguinal hernia and first time GI Practitioner Dr. Ramesh Gokaldas helped with two colonoscopies and one upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, approximately valued at. $ 60 K. Patients with hernia were saved from a potential life threatening complications.  Kristine Caldwell and Leon Rinehart, both Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, along with  Dr. Nitin Shah, Anesthesiologist, provided anesthesia. 
Patients were prepared by staff prior to surgery including preoperative investigations and were screened for fitness for anesthesia by Dr. Nitin Shah. 
They were transported by their family members from home to Los Angeles and back. Beverly Surgery Center staff provided all other services including operating room, recovery after surgery, supplies, medicines, equipment, and even lunch.
