BUENA PARK,CA Shrimad Bhagwat Katha was held at the Jain Center of Southern California here from July 13 through 19. Vishwa Shanti Sewa Charitable Mission’s (VSSCM) patron holy leader from Vrindavan, Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj, well-known as Thakurji, returned to Southern California for a second katha reading.
After initial worship with community leaders and sponsors Dr. Manmohan Nayyar and wife Pinky, along with other volunteers kicked off the opening day celebrations with a reminder of the Sanatan message of brotherhood. With chanting of “Radhe Radhe,” Thakurji led the audience through a passionate introduction of Radha, reminding listeners why Krishna’s eternal consort, who was born 11 months prior to Krishna is acknowledged first. This year’s discourse focused not only on the intricacies of Krishna’s life but also on the embedded message of peace within each tale. The Katha concluded with a focus on the final days of Krishna on earth as the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu. During the last two days, a petition to save the Yamuna River, and prevent cow slaughter was signed by Thakurji along with several hundred people. This petition will be sent to the Prime Minister of India’s office.
A Q&A session was held after the Katha where Thakurji answered several questions about Lord Krishna, and Sanatan Dharma.
A one minute silence was observed for MH 17 plane crash victims.
