LOS ANGELES,CA- “India’s Daughter,” and “Meet the Patels,” are among 124 feature films that have been submitted in the Documentary Feature category for the 88th Academy Awards. A shortlist of 15 films will be announced in December. Director Leslie Udwin’s, “India’s Daughter,” examines the 2012 horrific gang rape of a young girl dubbed ‘Nirbhaya’ in New Delhi from the perspective of her family, friends and rapists. “Meet the Patels” is a comedic documentary by the Indian-American sibling duo,
Geeta and Ravi Patel, which tracks the life of the latter in a traditional Indian matchmaking situation on their annual trip to India. “He Named me Malala” which looks at the life of Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai is another documentary that has been submitted.
